April Guild Report

Chairman Margaret Jones welcomed members and one visitor to the April meeting.

Copies of the mandates to be debated at the national AGM in June were circulated, and members will be asked to vote on them at May's guild meeting. Tickets were available for the Federation AGM on April 27th and the guild's Coffee Morning on May 12th, and members were reminded about the Rally on June 29th.

After the business of the evening, everyone settled down to a wonderful talk by Jenny Nowell on "The Plan" and her work in Paraguay. The charity was originally called "Foster Parents Plan for Children in Spaain" and was founded in 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. It has now grown to be an independent global charity, working in 48 of the world's poorest countries to help them build a better future. Jenny has been a sponsor to children in Paraguay for thirteen years, and she gave a powerful and emotional insight into her regular visits there and her obvious love for her work. Maureen Courtier gave the vote of thanks.

The guild's next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 10th at 7.30p.m. at Woolwell Community Centre. New members will be very welcome.
